INNER LANDSCAPES
The “Inner Landscapes” series represents Rodrigo’s impressions of the Australian landscape, at the same time as it talks about fear, isolation, resilience and freedom.
Consisting of 9 archival pigment prints; the artist uses different techniques to take the viewer on a journey that mixes an innovative aesthetics with a poetic and subtle recollection of the great era of impressionism.
Rodrigo’s depiction of Australian nature deeply relates to his own inner challenges and feelings.
It also talks about how we are immersed in a sea of dualities, where it is often the opposite yet complementary qualities that bring balance to life.
Interestingly, the artist himself has a great fascination with birds, but at the same time, a peculiar phobia seems to keep him away from what he admires.
“The Intangible Reflection of a Take Off” is at the same time a reference to a past where Australia was a fertile land for incredible birds as the flamingo and also a metaphor for the moment where our soul reaches a higher level of understanding. A moment that is as majestic as it is intangible for most of us.
“Flying in the Winds of Change” depicts several birds flying with the wind in an ethereal construction of form, colours and movement which correlates to the subtlety needed to at be one with our lives, and to achieve the kind of flow that takes us away from suffering.
“Inner Landscapes” represents a feeling of gratitude and contemplation towards life as well as Rodrigo’s efforts to translate these feelings into pleasing compositions.
